Brush Up Nampa June 21st, 2014

A special thanks to everyone that helped make this day possible.  Thank you to the City of Nampa and their efforts for organizing the supplies and teams.  Our team was lead wonderfully by our ward's Humanitarian Service Committee.  It was truly a tremendous team effort.  The family of the home assigned to our team was very very grateful for our help.

The family selected by Nampa was an elderly couple in need of some help. The wife is battling cancer and recently fell and in the hospital. She recently had fallen down her stairs and was currently in the ICU.  Their daughter was present at each visit trying to assist in anyway possible.  The whole time the owner of the home was expressing his gratitude and trying to help with water or snacks.  All the members of the home were very grateful and very supportive of our efforts.

Last Saturday several ward members were available to help prepare the house.  They were cleaned the and remove as much of the old flaking paint as possible.  A couple of our ward members stepped up and lead our efforts as most of the committee leadership was not able to attend.  A huge thank you is needed and expressed to those that stepped in and lead the group that day and to all that gave of their time in the service.

Today another group gathered early in the day at the church at 8 AM and headed to the assigned home.  It didn't take much time for our team of volunteers to start working.  Everyone rolled up their sleeves and started applying paint as quickly and neatly as possible.  Things went so smoothly two, coats of paint were applied to house. The roof trim was painted, the house was pained, and the neighboring storage shed was painted.  It was amazing to see how hard everyone worked.  We truly have some wonderful people in our ward and community.

Greg, from Brush Up Nampa, was very impressed with everyone's service.  He said "You guys are amazing!  I think you're the best group we've had."  He asked us if he could call on our team to help out in the future if needed.
